WRY AM I SO WHITE?!
I expected to feel awkward as a white girl in Japan, but man it's way more D8 than I thought. Dear America, thank you for being a melting pot, I have taken advantage of your kindness towards minorities. Dear Japan, please teach your children not to stare at self-concious/paranoid white girls. Thank you.
Alright so now that THAT is said... days 1 and 2 of Japan. Ichi... we get to Narita Airport at about 1:45PM and get to our hotel around 3PM? Maybe? I cant remember but its around 3 or 4PM. Our hotel is in Tokyo next to (well not really but its very close) the main Tokyo Train Station. Since we've been awake for a long as time already, we decide to only take a walk around our hotel and then decided randomly to check out Akihabara around 5 or 6PM. We get there and.... man I dont know what to do with myself @3@
Akihabara is nerd heaven, but Im sure most of you already knew that. The shops are all so intense I was actually intimidated to even go in at first, but I got over that... sorta. Since I cant read what the shops are advertising, Im really not to keen on walking into a store that only sells porn or galge games with my MOM 8| aaaaawkwaaaaard. So I only went into a few shops including animate since I pretty much knew what it sold. Floors and floors and flooooors of manga and light novels.... if only I could read Japanese D8!!! Being here makes me want to learn the language even more than before.
We didn't stay long since we were fucking exhausted, so we went back to the hotel to sleep. Before I went to bed I wanted to check out what was on TV and low and behold I find a music talk show that featured Arashi 8D They were doing a question and answer kind of thing and were wearing the outfits they wore in their new PV Monster... which they then performed after talking a bit. I turned it off after they performed since they started to do the same thing with another singer whom I didn't know so 8P
END DAY 1
Ni... We get up early since we're all fff messed up time-wise and go to check out the famous fish market. Yes, as many of you know Im really not a fan of fish, especially the smell but this place wasn't so bad despite the ENORMOUS amount of fish. That place is also incredibly dangerous for pedestrians D8 So much hustle and bustle and god mom can you stop standing in the middle of the path!
I really do wish I liked eating fish... like I REALLY do. Not only does it make it a little difficult to eat here, but I feel like Im missing out of something 8< So many interesting types of fish, so many things to do with them.... I am jealous of you people who have a taste for it ;;orz
We leave the fish market, check out this shrine that was pretty much right next to it and then headed to Asakusa for some temple action. Tourists galore once it got closer to 11am, and yet still 80% were Japanese. Anyway, saw the temple..., mom went to a public bathroom and marveled at the in-ground toilets. She made me give her my camera to take a picture of one... lol. While I was waiting for her this little boy runs by me screaming "MONKEY D. LUFFYYY!!!" and I was just like D'AAAWWW <333
We leave and take a boat cruise thing to Odaiba. The ship was... a sorta-not-really anime-themed ship. It had cardboard cut-outs and a narrated tour of characters from Galaxy Express 999 and the ship was designed by the creator. I dont know that series like... at all, but it was pretty cool. The ship took us all the way up into the bay, where there is a "mini" statue of liberty... I didnt know Japan got one too 8P lol
Went to Fuji TV Station which I was a bit disapoint about since they really were lacking in things that I knew. Yes, not their fault, but still. Saw a few things I knew though so that was nice. Other than that nothing too noteworthy there. We decided to get some food so we went to this Venus Fort thing where we ate at a chinese/japanese place... yay for awkward language barriers! All I can say is I'm only going to be eating in places that have pictures on their menus -__- This place did and thank god lawl Food was good, nothing amazing... though I would like to note they don't believe in napkins 8o
(Fuji TV)
Went back to our hotel for a bit, charged the battery on my camera, and then we headed over to this Edo museum. Though there was some english translations of some of the things there, not all of it was translated which made enjoying what I was looking at a bit less enjoyable. That and I couldn't take pictures for most of the stuff and even if I could the lighting was epic fail in order to preserve the artifacts. We left without really looking at everything but we looked at most of it.
Went to Akihabara again for dinner, ate at a place that specialized in Tonkatsu. It was pretty good but omg filling, but I think thats more of my stomach not being used to it. They had a cool call-button system that got the attention of the waitresses. Very good idea Japan. Also, yay napkins! lol Walked a bit around Akihabara but mom wasn't feeling too good so we didn't really do anything and went back to the hotel. And here I be now back at the hotel while my mom sleeps off her travel exhaustion. It's only 8PM right now but it feels later since I'm still not adapted to the time here.
Tomorrow is Harajuku, Shibuya... and other stuff 8P
