A bunch of us at my BN were laughing over the title today. An adverb and a plural? And really, just what is she trying to say? Harry Potter and the Things That Are Really Quite Harmless? Of course it's going to be 'deathly!' Or they are, I should say. Plural and all.
Gorey was actually one of the first things that came to my mind, after I stopped laughing so hard. If the reference is direct (probably not, though), that's cute, but as a title I still think it's shite.
I too have no idea what a hallow is. Or how it can be "deathly." I wonder what the other two title ideas were that she was trying to decide between.
I have decided that The Deathly Hallows is the name of the goth band Snape and Draco started after they ran off into the sunset together in book six. Draco sings and Snape writes the backing music on his laptop. I will have several happy months of imagining them touring Europe before the book comes out and proves me wrong.

I have no idea what a 'hallow' is, however.
