SloMo is probably the only one who knows what I'm talking about it...

Why is it:
I took her hand,
but it was not in matrimony;
I told my side,
but it was never testimony.

Instead of:
I took her hand,
but it was not in mantrimony;
I took the stand,
but it was never testimony.

This annoys me every time I hear the song.

Yeah, I feel like it must have been my way originally and they changed it. But I think both them sound fine, and not going for the obvious rhyme annoys some weird lobe of my brain.

Because if you took the stand it would be testimony? That would seem to follow by definition. Wheras you can tell your side outside of a courtroom.

It makes more sense the first way if you get anal about the definition of testimony, which I realize might not be what was intended.

I can spot BNL lyrics miles off.

I'd say they went with the first because that's their rhyming scheme in the song: abcb. Pretty sure their 1st and 3rd don't rhyme in any of the other verses... though that CD is out in the car, and I can't be assed to take the 40 steps it would require to retrieve it.

I just wanna know how they weigh attention span.
