I'm not up to date on modern Windows-based stuff, but I know a thing or two. I unfortunately don't have much time this week :-( but let me know if there's a good time I can help you.

FYI, have you tried booting from the Windows boot disk? This would prevent a boot virus and/or windows loader trojan from affecting you, and you can sometimes restore things from there.

I have no idea any of what you said XD;;

all I really want now is to just try and get a hold of my precious files to transfer to my new computer. If you can help me do that, I would be so eternally greatful.
