I wish I had more interest in the Tonys...but I really don't >_< I feel so awful about it, but I think it's just because I haven't seen a Broadway show in a while and have no idea what's even out nowadays :/

So further pushing my lack of culture, I was watching the Glee Project instead. Not even Darren's 2 minute cameo and the random adorable muffin Irish boy saved it.

Even though I have never had the pleasure of seeing something on Broadway, I kind of keep tabs on what's out and what's good. But just like, loosely, because I really love musicals and theatre.

The speeches in the Tonys are just awesome! They're so different than the Emmys or the Oscars.

Ah. I was wondering about it, but I don't get Oxygen. That's...sad. Cameron (I think) is from around here and he's been my favorite from the videos I've seen.

You really should one of these days - it's so much fun <3

I'll probably look up some videos of the Tonys tomorrow when I hear which speeches were the best - I tend to do that with missed award shows.

Yeah he's cute, but I'm totally in love with the Irish kid in it - what a muffin. He had to sing "Jessie's Girl" since he was in the bottom three, but he had never heard the song before and he messed up the lyrics and sang "I wish that I was Jessie's girl" XD Poor bastard.

I plan to. When - not if, because this will happen - Lea and/or Jon come back to Broadway, I will save my pennies and make a trip!

Sutton Foster's was especially fantastic. Norbert Leo Butz was so good. John Larroquette (but I love him and I'm biased) did really good. The performance of "It's Raining Men" was...indescribable!

And then there's every fucking thing NPH did. :P

I do like the Irish boy, too! He had a kind of deep voice? Am I thinking of the right one? I'm a sucker for a deep voice in a man.

Angela Lansbury! This classy woman can absolutely do no wrong.
You know what's freaky? I'm watching Anastasia now and it's one of her scenes. Hehehe.

I can't see the Tonys so I'm literally green with envy.

Enjoy, babe. And let me know how it goes.

Angela is just one of those people that make me happy beyond all reason. She reminds me of my grandma. ♥ (You know how I feel about THAT movie, lol. The last time I watched it, I got very drunk on that game.)

I gave up updating this post near the beginning of the show.

It was so good! You should look up videos tomorrow!

Highlights for me:
Sutton Foster's was especially fantastic. Norbert Leo Butz was so good. John Larroquette (but I love him and I'm biased) did really good. The performance of "It's Raining Men" was...indescribable!

And everything related to NPH. He and Hugh Jackman had a FABULOUS skit together!

I LOVED Nikki's speech, too. I had no clue who she was before, but I will definitely be looking her up. I love it when you can see and feel the passion and enthusiasm. So much better than Ellen Barkin's loooong speech ;)

I think the thing I love most about the Tonys is how heartfelt the speeches always are. Nikki's speech was really great, but I think Sutton Foster's had to be my favorite of the whole night. It's just really clear how much these people love what they do (to do eight shows a week, you've gotta really love it) and that's just a really beautiful thing.

I love it when you can see and feel the passion and enthusiasm.
THIS, so much! I really feel like that's something about theatre people compared to, say, movie actors. Theatre is something that is so involved and emotionally connected to the audience, and it really does take a different breed of person. Like I said, I love being able to see how much these people love what they're doing. It's fantastic.

I think...Ellen might have been trying too hard with her speech. I don't know.

I definitely had my favorite speeches and moments of the night!
