im one of those people who has no idea what shipping is or canon or OTP :P

No worries XD I only know them due to friends!
OTP = "One True Pairing" basically a couple [can be from anything] that you really like. "Shipping" means that you support the couple, so when you hear that someone says they "ship" this or that couple they were stating that they support and like that couple together!

As for "Canon" it's harder to explain, but it's a term [regularly used in fan fiction] that means that something is "Official" as to compare as something from fan fiction.
