In a historic decision, seeing how long I've been around livejournal, I've decided to give it up. Or at least I have suspended payments from today and will just let it run it's course and not be renewed. I don't use it anymore and mostly nor does anybody else that I still know. Shame you won't consider using them as it would put you back in contact with a lot of lovely people. And facebook especially is good for posting photos etc.

I've been on LJ as long as you and I am very sad that we have all moved away. I would never post thoughtful posts on FB although I hang out there. I'm not in a fandom any more either. (Although I do love Game of Thrones). I've no immediate plans to give up LJ but I'll see how I feel when the next bill arrives. We'll keep in touch on fb I guess!

I'm glad you made an announcement though. So many people have just faded away with no way of finding them elsewhere...

I love Game of Thrones. I've read all the books and think the tv series is an amazing recreation of that world (although could do without the needless sensationalism and soft porn).

I still love the format of LJ best but it is only as good as the amount of people that use it. That diversity is just gone and it is very sad.

But I know where you are online and vice versa and that is what counts!

I've nearly finished reading the second GoT book and I don't want to get ahead of the TV series. They are great for my long commute! The soft porn of the TV show makes me laugh, but the torture porn really gets to me. I found Theon's endless torture last series very difficult, and the multiple rapes this series have been horrible too. But overall the stories and the characters have me gripped!

Sorry to see you go, but I get it. LJ has been really quiet lately and LotR fandom as it was has mostly gone. It's sad, but I guess that's how things go. Fortunately I'll probably see you around on FB!

BTW, just curious, but why do you think Dom and GDL are arses? What have they done??

I guess for me, LOTR is no longer my fandom and the very few people left on LJ are LOTR fans which just doesn't interest me anymore. Will always love those three films but just not feeling the fandom anymore.

Dom is just full of himself, arrogant and childish. I always felt that way about him a bit but his twitter confirmed it for me.

GDL is a racist. I can take jokey dislike of the Welsh for the English etc but I also can tell when it is not a joke but meant. He means it and I hate that. If it was the English being racist about another nation, we would get slapped down (and often do) but it seems ok for the 'home' nations to make xenophobic comments about us. Like I said I can take a joke but only if it IS meant as a joke. GDL hates the English therefore I have no time for him.

it is sad to see you go but i can understand you. lj has been pretty quiet lately. i still use it but i guess more as a diary for myself. i still like the way lj works better than Facebook although i am there also but not very active.
