The chance "So this author walked into a bar" story was a goodie. I get totally star-struck-itis around authors too. Not sure what you could have said that wouldn't have made you cringe with shame later on but...we've all been there! I bet Sebastian Junger has had his awkward moments as well. (I once told MARGARET ATWOOD-- years ago, swear-- that "When I grow up I want to be JUST like you!" Come on, Pamela. WHAT WAS I THINKING???!)
Like I said, it was a gorgeous day and that area has changed SO much since we lived in the city. It's very chic now with it's upper end designer stores; but I don't know I kinda' liked it better before. It's so polished now.
pps I have never heard of this bar before but you've made me want to give it a try. I just checked out the website. Thanks for the heads-up. One of my favorite Spanish restaurants is on 23rd (between 7th and 8th). Yes I can see strolling down to 10th for a little brew or two afterwards... Readings are on Monday nights, alas. That has to change.
