This Friday, for date night (although it was actually during the day), my husband and I went into New York City. On the train ride in, he asked me where I wanted to go. I said, "Marc Jacobs down on Bleecker St ( Read more... )

Maybe I could have asked him who his agent is? Oy, why do I always think of the good things a day AFTER the actual occurance?

Sebastian Junger is dishy. Was he as smokin' hot in person as his author photos make him seem?

And you left me hanging, breathless for the end of the story....

DID YOU EVER GET THE GLOVES?

The chance "So this author walked into a bar" story was a goodie. I get totally star-struck-itis around authors too. Not sure what you could have said that wouldn't have made you cringe with shame later on but...we've all been there! I bet Sebastian Junger has had his awkward moments as well.
(I once told MARGARET ATWOOD-- years ago, swear-- that "When I grow up I want to be JUST like you!" Come on, Pamela. WHAT WAS I THINKING???!)

Like I said, it was a gorgeous day and that area has changed SO much since we lived in the city. It's very chic now with it's upper end designer stores; but I don't know I kinda' liked it better before. It's so polished now.

pps I have never heard of this bar before but you've made me want to give it a try. I just checked out the website. Thanks for the heads-up. One of my favorite Spanish restaurants is on 23rd (between 7th and 8th). Yes I can see strolling down to 10th for a little brew or two afterwards... Readings are on Monday nights, alas. That has to change.
