Entering unicode codepoints with screen's digraph command

GNU Screen has a digraph command, by default bound to ^a^v. In this mode, you can enter "digraphs": two characters that combine to form a single one. For example, entering `e will result in the character è. However, it also allows you to enter more complicated characters.
