Hm, I think I misread the list, because both MD senators are on board. Cardin won't say whether he supports a public option being available on day 1, ie that he opposes a trigger, or whether it should be national, or whether it should be able to bargain for rates with drug providers etc. Mikulski supports HELP, which seems to be the best legislation on the table at the moment.
Living in Vermont, almost every time someone posts one of these calls to action, I check and my Senators and Representative generally already support the position I support. I guess that's good, but its sometimes disappointing not being able to actually get involved and know that I'm going to make a difference.
I mean, in Vermont, we have 4 parties that actually get enough votes to qualify for the debates (for offices like Governor). There's the Republican party, the Democratic Party, the Progressive Party (which tends to be somewhat to the left of the Democratic Party), and the Socialist Party (which tends to be somewhat to the left of Karl Marx). The Progressive Party actually gets people elected occasionally; Bernie Sanders was with the Progressive Party before he became an independent.
