haunted basement

Trying to post about stuff that isn't just personal struggles or massive photo posts about past fun.

I went to the Haunted Basement, a haunted house set up in the basement of an old soap factory/current art gallery. It's my third year attending. What I like about Haunted Basement is that it is very scary and extreme in some ways, but also just ( Read more... )

oh man, haunted houses are the best! bummer that it wasn't as good as last time, tho. maybe next year it will be back to old tricks!? there's a sign for a haunted house @ this church that i drive by on my way to work & i'm kind of intrigued... except i'm also a bit worried that maybe it's a hell house & instead of awesome zombies & shit it'll be like gay people burning in hell or something... which would def. be horrifying, but not in a fun way.

I feel like a haunted house at a church could go either way. If it's a Hell House, boo. But if it's just a corny community thing, it could be really fun!

hell houses are still a lot of fun. the churches who put them on intend them to be very serious anti halloween affairs. what they really want is you to take them seriously and agree to be saved but they can't stop you from having fun and laffing at their goofy gore filled abortion clinic scenes, or when they have a public school class learning about how evolution and gay sex are awesome and happily shooting up aids blood to get high in a class room.
if you walk out at then end laffing and having a good time then you and Satan have won and that's a victory worth persuing.

I've never been able to stand haunted houses, even though I love gross/scary shit usually. It stems from going to a haunted trail when I was only like four w/ my brother & getting superduper terrified, I think. Even now I can't handle it, though I enjoyed th one time I participated in putting one together.

do you read mischke's city pages column?it's pretty much the only worth while thing they print these days. apparently there is a illegal underground haunted house type thing in town called "death" that makes the haunted basement seem like childs play.
after reading mischke's description of it, i admire their boldness but it just sounds very unpleasant. like they've crossed the GG allen line, or maybe even one further than that. the Anal Cunt of haunted houses, far more extreme yes, but they've forgotten that it's still supposed to somehow be music.

I hope it's true, Mischke doesn't strike me as the kind who'd write a totally fake story. but i see the city pages readers are skeptical.

Yeah, this was the first year I went and I thought that people just talked it up too much. There was a point that I was actually laughing (the clown girl's perv mom). I was only kind of scared when it was pitch black. The maze was a good one, I agree. It felt more like a well-done funhouse to me.

That sucks it wasn't as good as last year. I'm disappointed that they're using some of the same structures again. Hopefully they aren't running out of ideas. They do open submissions every year, so if you think of something really scary, maybe you can design part of it.
