a) why is the metrodome covered in fabric and not, you know, concrete or something?

b) even so, i feel any snow storm that collapses a major nfl stadium is worth freaking out over.

I thought it was a temporary roof or something when they were talking about how the Giants didn't bring their outdoor gear and how this was a big problem.

I think I can explain that. The Metrodome's roof isn't temporary, but I think they were considering moving the game to another venue that is outdoors, like TCF Stadium (where the college team the Gophers play). But the Giants didn't bring their gear and the TFC Stadium is shut down for the season anyhow. The Dome's only had problems with their roof a few times in the early 80's, when it was first build, so this is a pretty big deal!

It has basically thrilled every Minnesotan peer I have. It's not that we necessarily bear the Dome any ill will... it's just so friggin cool and crazy to see!

And...I just drove by the Dome, actually, and it looks so strange seeing it without its DOME. Very weird.
