Millennium trilogy

I finally read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, by Stieg Larsson. I tried to make myself wait and not read them too quickly, but I only somewhat succeeded in that (I read the entire third book last night, after dashing out to the bookstore to get it before dinner).

I won't ( Read more... )

personal, girl with the dragon tattoo

Acorrding to my boss at work, they were supposed to be a 10 book series. But I like how it ended. I thought it ended "well."

I heard that, too. I agree, these 3 books definitely "went together", and the 3rd book ended in a way that just....worked.

But now that the stuff from the first 3 is resolved, I would have liked to see what would have happened next. What would Lisbeth end up doing? (I mean, employment-wise) Was Blomkvist REALLY in love with Figuerora? (I doubt it)

lol as I was saying to Penny on twitter, it's a bummer Larsson died - because now we don't get any more books. (I only care about how this affects me, obvs.....)

My roommate let me borrow The Girl W the Dragon Tattoo last week. I have yet to start it though. I hope I like it since everyone I know seems to enjoy it.

I felt that it took a little while to get into. Luckily, I took it with me when I was on the train for awhile, so I didn't have anything else distracting me (and no alternative if I was bored with it, lol). And it's worth it when you get into it - I'm not sure which of the three books I liked the best, maybe the second one, but the first one is definitely....intense.

I've debated reading these books, but at the same time I'm squeamish and I know about the subject matter.

well at least you know what you're getting into. I'm not really squeamish about those things but I had NO IDEA what the books were about. I was glad I wasn't spoiled at all, but.....yeah. and the second and third ones are not as bad as the first, in that respect.

Yes, you should definitely read the second and third books as well! I'm not sure which one is my favorite, but the second and third books are more about Lisbeth rather than Mikael.

And once you finish the second book, it will be impossible not to read the third one!

I know. I have been asked about Tags a lot today, actually. I've been distracted by other things (like reading Girl With the Dragon Tattoo!), but I really will try and work on getting the next Tags chapter ready.

These books are on my list of books to read. I'll eventually get to them, but no one but my cousin has read them, so it's nice to hear someone else's opinion. My mom recently gave me a copy of the first movie, so I've been tempted to watch that first. Since I know the books are a translation, I'm worried stuff will get lost or left out (as it happens with movie adaptations). Maybe I'll wait until you see the movie and you can tell me what's up, ha.

I watched the first movie yesterday, actually. I usually hate it when movies are adapted from books I really like because tptb inevitably change stuff. I liked the movie, though. They did change some details and leave out some characters (there are a LOT of characters in the first book), but none of that bothered me. There were 1 or 2 things I thought they shouldn't have done but it might play out differently in the next 2 movies, so we'll see ( ... )
