Week 13 or 14 of ickyness.

For those who haven't been on LJ at all recently, just over three months ago I stopped using conventional shampoo and conditioner and started using bicarbonate of soda and apple cider vinegar instead. I'm not sure exactly how long ago it was. I've lost count. I could work it out if I could be arsed looking at my diary but I can't ( Read more... )

My scalp gets itchy when my hair gets overly greasy. Like you if my pixies are bad, then my personal hygiene suffers. My scalp is very dry and often covered in sores as a result. I use hand lotion* on my scalp unless the skin is broken (I dap TCP on the sore wounds with a cotton bud). I wonder if tea tree oil might work? (If you've no allergies to it)

* I'm using Baylis and Harding atm as it's light and not greasy. I'm not sure how friendly it would be if you suffer from skin allergies though. I wonder if something like E45 lotion might be better if that's the case? Can you use the E45 range?

My scalp isn't dry or sore. Just itchy. I was using tea tree, lavender and rosemary oil on it initially and that soothed it a bit but that also made my hair very greasy. I think I'll just try to get it to come to terms with being washed every three days whether it likes it or not. I think it would prefer every other day but I don't have the spoons for that. If the itching is doing my head in I can always take an antihistamine.

I can't use E45 as, like my grandfather and cousin, I'm allergic to it! Bloody typical. I'm allergic to that which is used to help one of my skin conditions. I get eczema every so often.

I might take a look at the lotion you use. I haven't heard of that.
