I'm much more of a skimmer myself. I fill my LJ with much of the fluff and put more of my personal life on another site, which actually reflects my non-internet life a lot, people I like to socialize and my tiny couple of people who are closest to me but rarely do the two intersect. Eventually, they will.

Thanks for sharing those, Greg. I especially like the first one. Character building is something essential that's rarely ever discussed it seems. Perhaps it's because choosing to do "the right thing" is often so difficult. I've been thinking a lot about this topic myself in connection with situations in my own life. I think an important aspect (not explicitly stated in the article, but perhaps implied) is the idea of choosing with "joy"... accepting whatever difficulties or burdens are inherent in the choice, recognizing that each good choice strengthens us as individuals.
