Question for ya - one thing that I've never understood is the desire to support third parties that will not win. I don't see how it is worth it to make a political point while taking votes away from a democratic candidate that, while not MUCH different from its republican counterpart, might at least be willing to do SOMETHING.
It just kills me to think that we could have had Al Gore in office all of this time - had the green party voters voted for him in 2000.
Don't hate me for asking - I know that you're a super smart political dynamo type that has sound reasons for doing so.... but enlighten me. I don't get it.
Super smart political dynamo type? :o\ Dude. Not really. I just pay attention sometimesOn the issues, the Green Party is the political party that best represents my own values. I actually have been a registered Republican, Democrat, and Green over the years, believe it or not, as it took me a long while to "feel out" who I was philosophically. I try to approach things issue-by-issue. I'd probably consider myself a "conservative/moderate Green" now, I guess
( ... )
That makes sense - I had never considered the fact that without the liberal third parties, the dem's would have even more reason to go right. This is why you are a political dynamo in my eyes - this really never occurred to me.
It still just... frustrates me, though. If I really get to thinking about the 2000 election, I want to bang my head against the wall repeatedly.
