It is TOTALLY that being a total wanker is appealing to primal sexuality. Girls will have a guy friend who's awesome, understanding, fun, attractive, and nice... and they'll go to a baseball game with him, cry on his shoulder, and then go fuck his asshole friend. Because for some reason, asshole = confident, and confidence is a turn-on

This "Lionel" fellow does not sound nice, if he didn't stand up to a man that insulted his date. As I said in my blog post, it seems like a lack of integrity and not an abundance of agreeableness.
Thanks for the reply. It's very illuminating about women.
Let me see if I can come up with a working definition of this issue with confidence.
It seems to me that confidence could be represented by water. People that are nice, but don't have the integrity could be like candy -- there's barely any moisture, but it tastes good.
The "asshole" could be like liquor. There's plenty of water in liquor, but there are other things in there, too.
I suppose the perfect balance would be, like, a melon. It has just enough sweetness, but it has enough water that you can't bite into it without missing it.
This gives new meaning to the phrase "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker."
Yeah, being a pushover does have more to do with lack of integrity than being kind and considerate. The problem is that being nice and being a pushover often go hand in hand. Often enough for it to become a stereotype of sorts, anyway.
