Caesar: *walking through the liabary, taking books off shelves, flipping through them, and then putting them back. Sighing he stuffs his hands in his pockets and strolls along the shelves, hoping for something to catch his eye*
Lucretia: *is sitting at a nearby table with a stack of books about 2 feet high and notices the young man's frustration about seemingly not being able to find what he's looking for...she looks up and smiles politely* If you like, I have some books here you can look through if you're having trouble finding something....?
Caesar: Huh? *looks over at her* I'm just... looking. You know, trying to find ... something to do with myself.
Lucretia: *flutters thoughtfully* Well, there's plenty here to [do] with yourself...there's the cafe, and training, and the baths and...well, of course, you're here in the library, you could read a book. *nods, smiling!*
Caesar: *smiles at her* I'm not one for training, and I already had a bath. But, I need something to engage my mind, or put me to sleep. *pauses* Put me to sleep sounds good. *sits down* I'm Caesar Silverberg, pleasure to meet you Miss...
Lucretia: Lucretia Merces. Caesar Silverberg...*ponders and flutters* Pardon my assumption, but any relation to Leon or Mathiu Silverberg?
Caesar: *slumps* Leon is my grandfather.
Lucretia: Chin up. You shouldn't be burdened by what has happened before you. I can tell from your hair color alone that you are one to blaze your own trail.
Caesar: Tried that. Didn't work. I've had exactly one succesful campaign in my life, and that was about seven years ago. After that, I traveled the world, even going to your Falena, but every general I was under just didn't... feel right. It wasn't anything I could get into. You know? *sighs* Grandfather laughed at that.
Lucretia: Well, that's the half of it - getting into something you believe in. If you know the cause is right, and the people are right, then there's no hesitation. I don't blame you for being wary of things. And even if you only have one success, it is success and no one can take that from you.
Caesar: *shakes head* I got too involed emotionally in that first campaign, I don't think I ever got over it. Nothing feels like it could be ... better than that. *gives a yawn* I broke so many rules during that war.
Lucretia: Rules are meant to be broken. It is what it is. There's much more to life that's better than winning a campaign. You just have to find what that is.
Caesar: Including the rule never fall in with your general?
Lucretia: *flutter!s, not seeing that coming* It's best to maintain some sort of distance so that emotions don't cloud your thinking. It's okay to [care] about the outcome and the people involved, but...sometimes sacrifices have to be made and those decisions have to be made without emotion. *wonders how to go about helping him without getting too much 'in his business'...*
Caesar: Well, thankfully, it didn't come to that... *sighs* Still, dwelling on that doesn't do me good now does it? *rests his head on the table* What did you do after the Sun Rune War Lady Merces?
Lucretia: I actually travelled the world. I did a lot of reading, I did a lot of studying, and I actually collected books. I made a home in Gregminster for a long while, but I guess my wanderlust got the better of me, and I travelled here. It seems as if I can't keep still. *chuckle* I should have asked sooner - when did you arrive here?
Caesar: Just two days ago. I heard my brother was here, and that my teacher Apple was here. And that Hugo was here, so I came here. I was teaching in Seika for a bit, but *sheepish grin* I slept more in class than my students.
Lucretia: I understand. I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I fell asleep in class at Soledt. *giggles* So what do you intend on doing while you're here?
Caesar: I don't know. I've screwed up pretty much everything else. I guess keep an eye on my brother, get yelled at by my grandfather, and get roped in for babysitting for Apple and possibly Hugo. *leans back in his chair* Man, two of who used to my closest friends now have kids, well, going to have kids... I should have kept in touch better...
Lucretia: At least you don't have to babysit [them] anymore, right?
Caesar: *smiles* Apple would tell you it was the other way around.
Lucretia: *chuckles* I'll have to meet Apple once she returns. She sounds like a real pip.
Caesar: *smiles* She is. She taught me more than Soledt did.
Lucretia: School can only do so much, really. Living life is where the real lessons are learned.
Caesar: *nods* I'll believe that. *stands* I should probably go find Grandfather, he has a lecture in store for me, and if I don't put it off perhaps I'll be able to pass out during it.
Lucretia: *chuckles* Should you need to tell someone how it went, I'm usually here in the library, reading. It was very nice to meet you, Caesar. *flutter!*
Caesar: Nice to meet you too Lady Merces. I'm sure I'll take you up on that.
