On Advertising

So I've decided that I should probably make a few posters for my new courses at my new school, as a way to draw the enthusiastic and crowd out those who are not really interested.

I'm thinking some sort of montage.  You know, the shading-into-black images of a few writers, with a mock movie headline and a list of thrills and chills.

Either of those posters would convince me to take the class, and I hate american lit. I'd take it because any teacher who'd put up posters like that to advertise the class is a teacher I'd want to learn from. Plus, I can tolerate Hemmingway et al as long as they're not being taken too terribly seriously.

I'd take the class if I saw this poster. Everyone needs an English professor with a sense of humor.

Use both. Plaster billboard space. Smile appeasingly at the department chair. What could possibly go wrong?
