Thanks to my roomies and a night of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ghost Whisperer, I've been thinking about horror movies lately.  It occurred to me last night after a conversation about what scary movies we've watched, that I've watched a fair number of them for someone who doesn't actually like scary movies and tends to have many many nightmares about ( Read more... )

First I find all those movies scary and have watched every single one.

But it's just such a coincidence about this post - because my oldest daughter has a reading project assignment of reading a scary book.

I went through all my books and pulling out a BILLION Stephen King books, Dean Koontz and of course Anne Rice - and my daughter was COMPLETELY un-impressed after reading all the jacket covers... she said.. "These aren't scary."

I was like.. wha.. what... WHAT!?!
Excuse me little girl -- but IT - is SCARY.

Children today are so jaded... she even called me "lame". That really hurt.

That's awesome!! Kids today. They sure don't scare easy do they?

Seriously, have her try "The Serpent and the Rainbow." Scared the living crap out of me. WARNING: I haven't watched it a second time (due to the crap scaring and all) but in 1989, that was some scary stuff!

It's funny. I normally don't like scary movies and trust me, I scare easily. However, the whole Friday the 13th series was a major issue for me because it started on a lake with cabins and whatnot. Freaked me out. So I refused to watch the rest of the movies. I recall at a slumber party some friends wanted to watch one of the subseqent 13ths and I refused to watch by ATTEMPTING to sleep. One of my other friends who was equally scared but was trying to watch it kept running over to me and waking me up and yelling in my ear "Carrie!!! WAKE UP!!! Talk to me!! It's a REALLY scary part!!" Uh, yeah, I know. It's a horror movie. That's why I'm over here. Not afraid to admit I'm chicken. Go back to your movie.
