Folie a Deux Review

Dec 31, 2008 17:25

Hi there!! Finally got my new computer!!! Now I can write long entries again :P.... but no internet, btw :(
I'll make two entries because there's this one big thing, and then another random stuff I'd like to share.

OMG I can't believe the way it's just another GREAT album. It's different, I know, but there's a few songs which are pretty similar to previous stuff, like Disloyal Order, America's Sweethearts, (Coffee's for Closers),.... Patrick Stump, you rule the whole thing. And I know Pete's lyrics are pretty awesome, but the music in this album..... it's just the most insane FOB album to day (at least to me :P), it's so much darker than FOB previous stuff. Musically speaking, I mean. I did read the lyrics, and they are good and different, but it's like, english is not my everyday languaje haha. My english sucks btw, but here in LJ I write in english just because :P. Back to the album, there's some new stuff like the use of synths, and those heavy riffs (Headfirst Slide Into... gave us an idea at first) which are just awesome and do fit perfectly with the band. Though I think there's less guitar work... I can't hear those great guitar parts Joe was suppoused to write, still I think Joe is a great guitarrist, I feel like if there's a sort of waste of talent in this record, with Joe. Whatever, here I go with my favorite thing about this: a song by song review!

01 Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes: When I came home, put the record, and heard the first organ chords, I was like: 'Oh no the whole album is gonna be like What a Catch!' Haha thank God that killing guitar shut me up. Sort of epic pop-punk song opening the record, a la Lawyer Made Us Change...

02 I Don't Care: I know a few people didn't like it, but I loved it from the very beggining. Patrick your voice rulez haha.

03 She's My Winona: I didn't get the point at first. It's not a bad song, but it's not a good one either. It's like I don't know. Anyways, sudden modulation at the end of the song!! Just like the old times (Pretty In Punk WTF).

04 America's Sweethearts: I think the song with best guitar work in the whole album. Great pop-punk single, the chorus is awesome though really hard to sing, the bridge is just great.

05 Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet: I think Patrick said it was probably his fav song in the album. OMG what a insane song. From that basic but strong riff, to that soft and innocent piano, and not to mention the epic end, or Patrick's lower notes; I should agree: technically, it's the best song of the record.

06 The (Shipped) Gold Standard: OMG what a bridge!!! Heavy riff coming together with a pop song, great job. But the bridge omg xD.

07 (Coffee's For Closers): Strings! Drums! Whatever! Just great great stuff, previous albums alike. The end of the song with the strings playing in a classical music way, just makes me smile everytime I hear it.

08 What a Catch: So, the pop song. But what a great song. And the guests vocalists... c'mon

09 27: Probably the song I'm listening the most. I just love it. It's great.

10 Tiffany Blews: At first I didn't like it much, because you know, it sounds a little weird to Fall Out Boy. But now I love it too. Deeeaaarr gravityyy!! Distorted voice, indie guitar....

11 w.a.m.s.: At first I loved it, as far as thinking it was the best song of the album. Now I like it, it sounds weird and I love it (the pre-chorus is specially iNsAnE), Patrick with his "if we don't take the medication" is great too, but it's like, I don't listen to it that much. Really strong song.

12 20 Dollar Nose Bleed: Like vines we intertwined, carelessly growing up and growing old, life was on our tongues, It tasted heavenly so gooood..... c'mon this song is almost exactly the saaame! Not the melody perhaps, but the chords are the same! And uh, Brendon, at first didn't recongnize him, because I insist his voice is really fucking similar to Patrick's. Anyway well done Brendon. The piano part is quite simple, they should have written a harder piano part, so Brendon can show us how good he is at it.

13 West Coast Smoker: Finally, here I can say, my job is done :P. Greatest song in the album if not best, throat vocals, Pete making the duet with Debie Harry (I'm pretty sure Pete sings that "Oh hell yes"), Patrick just showing up why should we consider him one of the best rock singers of our days. Awesome song, FOB always puts the STRONG thing at the end of the album. FUCT had XO (Which I still think is FOB's best song), IOH had I've got all this Ringing......
