Hello! (I'm so happy I've actually inspired someone. Don't think I've ever done that before...)

I've never read any Zacharias/Luna, so this was new for me. In fact, I've never read anything in which Zacharias was a main player, although I can certainly see the appeal in him. Your Luna is PERFECT, she's the perfect balance between intelligent and out there that so few people can capture. I really enjoyed the relationship between Zacharias and Luna, too, and especially the way Zacharias is sort of "I can make fun of you for being weird but you're not allowed to do it to yourself" about it all. Very cute. Thanks for an adorable fic!

*hugs*,
Brittney

You're very welcome *g*. I was having a lot of trouble with my existing Zacharias/Luna fic, but when I decided to copy your letter format this came to me very easily.

Your Luna is PERFECT, she's the perfect balance between intelligent and out there that so few people can capture.

While I can see that Luna is a character with a huge amount of comic potential, I don't like the fics that portray her solely as a running joke. And I love to pair her and Zacharias together because they're both very strong personalities, yet quite different from each other.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Zacharias and Luna, too, and especially the way Zacharias is sort of "I can make fun of you for being weird but you're not allowed to do it to yourself" about it all.I think the difference between how Zacharias and most of the other students at the school make fun of Luna is that he doesn't do it in a mean way, more in a laughing-with-you way. Luna can see that so she doesn't get offended (although she doesn't seem to notice when people make ( ... )

I realize I'm quite late to the ball, but I somehow stumbled across this fic of yours by accident and wanted to heap praise on you. I love epistilary stories like this and I really enjoyed the little thematic headers incorporated with the receiver's address.

You did a magnificent job of portraying both Luna and Zacharaias in a sympathetic way that kept both in character, and (in the case of Luna) avoided slipping off into absurdity.

And yeah for second language teaching/linguistics! I'm in applied linguistics myself, so I particularly loved the little bit of background you dropped in on the various languages Luna was learning.

Thanks! The thematic headers were actually something that bribitribbit did in her Neville/Susan fic that gave me the idea to do this - I can't take credit for them :)

How long have you been studying Linguistics for? My major is actually second language teaching, but there's a lot of crossover between the two so most of my classes are Linguistics ones.

Well, then, I'll have to take a look at bribitribbit's stuff. I really do like the genre.

As for my area of study, I think it's closer to yours than it sounds. It's kind of funny because my university also has a Linguistics department and they do more theoretical stuff (Optimality Theory, etc.) whereas the applied work is covered by Educational Linguistics. So I am actually doing research on second language acquisition. I came to this program after doing a Master's in TESOL and I'm currently in my fourth year. My advisor is Teresa Pica - are you familiar with any of her work?

And how about you? How long have you been doing second language teaching and what are your specific interests (if you don't mind my asking)?

I did an online certificate in TEFL and then went to Italy and worked as an English teacher for a year before moving to New Zealand. I'm doing a graduate diploma in arts with a second language teaching major and I plan on graduating this July. I studied French for a while and I learnt some Italian while over there, but I don't know enough of either of those languages to teach them!

Thanks for the heads-up. I've already read and enjoyed it but I was feeling too sleep-deprived to leave a decent review :) I'll review it properly another time.

This was adorable! I actually can see Luna as someone who'd be interested in languages and using bits and pieces of them at times. Zacharias was still a git, but his obvious jealousy of Harry was funny, as was his very clumsy attempt at letting Luna know that he had no interest in Susan Bones. I definitely like the way you write this pairing, and I'd love to see more. I suppose while Dean is off painting the wizarding equivalent of the Mona Lisa, Luna has to occupy her time some way! *g*

To me it would make more sense that she's only interested in finding out about the obscure languages whereas Zacharias, being infinitely more practical, concentrates on French and German ;)

his obvious jealousy of Harry was funny, as was his very clumsy attempt at letting Luna know that he had no interest in Susan Bones.

I loved writing that bit because Luna is so oblivious to the "real" reason behind his jealousy. And I suppose that neither of them are real smooth operators when it comes to romance, which makes them so fun to write. I imagine Zacharias's typical attempt in asking a girl out goes something like this:

Zacharias: Are you going to Hogsmeades next Saturday?
Girl: Yes, but-
Zacharias: Alright then. I'll meet you in Honeydukes at eleven.
Girl: o_O

I definitely like the way you write this pairing, and I'd love to see more.I'm working on a Marcus/Penelope at the moment, but I've always been tempted to write ( ... )
