Sherlock Holmes 60 for 60 Week 5: "The Blue Carbuncle"

Jul 24, 2011 02:31

Would that he could lose Mary’s affection.  He knows of my keen eye, but that sense is heightened a hundredfold each time I see him.  My gaze rips across the felt of his hat, searching for, praying for any sign of the dust that would tell me that, though I haven’t won yet, she has at least relinquished the field.

I do have to correct you ever so slightly -- it's not 60 words or less, but simply 60 words on the nose. But we're not sticklers for absolute perfection either. More fic is always the real goal! I'm so glad you're playing along with us!

I'm so sorry! I totally misunderstood. I'm so bad at following instructions. *blushes* I'm going to edit it now and add a word so that it comes to 60 words on the dot. Thanks for letting me know. I'll do it right next week! :D

Yes! Beautiful writing--the hope that Mary, of her own accord, will let Watson return. As we are all sure that Sarah will.

This is great! I love your sharply-observant, intensely-jealous Holmes eagerly searching for any sign of hope - and of course not saying a word that might help clear the field. I'm so glad you're doing these!
