i've been trying to put a finger on what it was that made me like these, and i think i've got it: they're lively.  in the one of your mother and father, the eyes carry a lot, but it's not like they stand out, it's just that they really seem like the center of the piece.  the thanksgiving one, i can't get any more specific than that i like that it's lively.
