I just finished the last Harry Potter book.

I am 95% satisfied with the outcome. There were a couple of things that didn't get resolved, and one scene that I didn't really like, as I felt that it was a too convenient, deus ex machina solution, but for the most part, the story ended the way that I thought it should ( Read more... )

R. Scott Bakker has one trilogy out, a fantasy epic called "The Prince of Nothing". It's darksome and muscular, a big, brawling journey through his full-colour, three-dimensional world. It's a little tough to read sometimes, because it's a harsh, authentic place full of history, magic and trouble, but oh, it's rewarding. Look it up on Amazon, or borrow it if you can from your library.

It begins with The Darkness That Comes Before. Give it a go, if you're interested in something different.
