For muse_manifesto Prompt 15 - "The First Time I Saw..."

Mar 29, 2007 07:24

The first time I saw Aslan, I knew that there was no way I could turn away -- from him or from the any of the people of Narnia.

For most of the journey to Aslan's camp after Edmund went over to the White Witch, Peter and Susan kept trying to convince themselves and others that we couldn't get involved in the war that was coming to Narnia. We were just there to get our brother and go home. Being the youngest, it wasn't often that I would get a vote in what we were going to do. This time it bothered me quite a bit as Tumnus wouldn't have gotten into trouble if he hadn't helped me.

I wanted us to stay and help free him, but Peter and Susan kept telling me that it was out of our hands and there was nothing we could do. I knew we had to do something, though. I knew we couldn't just get Edmund and leave.

Narnia needed us -- all of us.

When I laid eyes on Aslan for the first time, I made my decision. It was a decision made of the realization that I had a duty to fulfill and I had something greater than me to be fought for. Even if I had to stand against my sister and brothers, I was staying in Narnia to help.
