Lucy ripped tiny slices off of a paper menu as she looked out the thick coffee shop window, waiting for Lois to arrive. Her foot twitched underneath the table, tapping repeatedly against the chair as she huffed out a nervous breath ( Read more... )

The drive had given Lois a lot of time to think about the situation, and she wasn't exactly thrilled about what was going on. That being said, if she didn't want her sister at her house, she wouldn't have her sister there.

Lois didn't love family that much that she'd inconvenience herself but she did love Lucy enough that she'd do whatever it took to make sure her sister was happy. Though, she prayed it wouldnt' involve her stolen items.

"Hey," she responded, looking out at her sister. "You ready to head to Smallville?"

Nodding, Lucy placed her purse in the floor board and climbed into the car, closing the door behind her. She pulled her seat belt on and took a deep breath before looking over at her sister.

She didn't bother with the typical 'innocent Lucy' face this time. She knew Lois would be expecting it anyway, and there really wasn't a point. For once, Lois wasn't a part of her con...at least, not directly. Smiling a bit, she sat back in her seat and turned her face toward the windshield. "Ready. You want to start filling me in on the rules? I'm sure there's quite a list, although I can probably guess most of them."

She didn't answer right away -- instead, she chose to just focus on driving. Metropolis traffic isn't that bad, but still, it's better than answering.

"How about you tell me what you think I want," she finally responded, breaking the awkward silence. "And we can go from there. There's no point in me telling you what I want and don't want, Luce, because if you don't agree, you're not going to do it."

She didn't say this angrily -- it was the cold facts of her sister and she was aware of it.

She watched the dull, Kansas landscape fly past them as they drove and sighed. "Well, the fact is," she said, "I'm willing to accept pretty much anything you want inside your place. I don't want to cause you anymore problems, Lo...and I am grateful you're letting me stay."

Shrugging, she turned in her seat a bit and looked at Lois. "I won't steal anything from you, to start, and I won't invite anyone over. I won't get drunk or stay out late without calling...because you'll worry. You won't believe me, because you never do, but I am not here to start give you a headache."

She hoped Lois would recognize the sincerity in her voice, but honestly she wasn't sure...she was never sincere enough to actually recognize herself if it sounded honest.
