Rogue at the Ritz gala in House of Cards

Dec 12, 2013 15:20

This little sketch has been sitting around in my notebook for years now, and I thought I'd share it with you.  It's the gown I envisaged Rogue wearing to the Ritz gala as Marie D'Ancanto in the House of Cards chapter, "Masks".  I love the fact that Rogue actually loathes this kind of look (she'd choose functionality and comfort over beauty and ( Read more... )

Love Love Love! Enough said...

I too had a mad passion for fashion, so much so, my last year of high school finally had a major for fashion design and I took it. I even had an internship with a designer no less! But alas, things got in the way and well?.... At least I have my art, so do you :)

That was such a long time ago.... but I let things get in the way also being young at the time, (it shouldn't be an excuse) not really knowing what a great opportunity it was until more than 10 years later, recalling how different it would be if I'd continue through that path, the shoulda, coulda woulda thinking we do in adulthood now. On top of it all, I had a lot of responsibilities I couldn't just set aside. In some ways I really do not think it could have been possible juggling my dream with the reality of real life... Sooo, *shrugs* :)

How about you? You've got some pieces that screams to be sewn and wore...

Aw, don't beat yourself up about it. It's so difficult to know what to do when you're a kid. Fashion was an interest for me too when I was in high school, but to be honest, I had so many different interests that I didn't really know what to do with myself. And then art school scared me because it was full of bitchy, pretentious people and I was too shy to be into the whole competitive thing. I just know the fashion industry would've chewed me up and spit me out, so it's probably a good thing I never got into it in the first place.

I know what you mean! The world of fashion/art is cut throat. I remember looking for just a high school that had an art/ fashion major, like La Guardia and the High School of Fashion Industries here in NY and boooyyy! What an atmosphere! There were so many Pompous, arrogant and self righteous students and some staff that you needed a needle to pop every last ego inflated head just to get into the front door! So I imagined how worse it could get in college and life after.

But what can you do right? Let them be in their own little world and pretend the stick isn't sticking that far in their rear... ;)

Indeed! I guess we're all made to be certain things... And some of us are definitely not made to be famous fashion designers! So don't regret not being one... ;)
