Because I couldn't have put it better myself: "An unemployed 47-year-old spinster who's never been married and lives with her cats goes on Britain's Got Talent and rocks the fucking house."

I'll be honest guys. I cried. Yes I did. a little

I want to be that cool when I'm that old. The spinster, unmarried, and living with cats bit at this point ( Read more... )

It doesn't seem fair, does it? We get American Idol in the states with a huge amount of duds that is often excrutiating to watch. This show gets the most remarkable people who can reduce an audience into a puddle. An undiscovered opera singer, a little girl with the most crystalline purity in her voice, and now this 'spinster'.

You just cried once? I've been replaying it for the last half hour, finding each expression in the audience and on the judges' faces to be a true blow for the little people who have a dream.

Thanks so much for posting the link. Monday isn't really Blue Monday anymore.

I tend to not watch the various brands of Idol shows just because I can't stomach the cynicism. But after all the remarkable clips coming from Britain's Got Talent, I might watch that. :) As Susan proved right there, it doesn't matter who you are or how old you've become, you are still talented and beautiful, and people shouldn't judge. Our media is too preoccupied with youth and looking sexy to really pay attention to all the diverse talent out there.

And you're welcome! Sorry for the late comment too. haha

I'm glad it brought a smile to your face. I rather loved that clip too.
And I'm on board the "buying her record when it comes out". The music industry needs proof that sexy looks aren't everything in music.

Hey, I'm only 29 and I have the spinster, unmarried, and living with cats thing down! XD

Seriously though, that video is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing it. Everyone was thinking the worst of her, and she blew them away. I thought my heart was going to burst.

It's one of the reasons I can't usually stand to watch American Idol and other shows like that, the way they make fun of people and mock them for having a dream. Even if they quite often don't have any talent, watching people laugh at people like that will never be entertaining to me. So it's pretty satisfying to me to see their cynicism and low expectations thrown back in their face for once. XD

I think Susan Boyle's life is going to undergo a dramatic change. XD

Well, as Susan showed us, that's not necessarily a bad thing. XD

And you're welcome. It moved me so much watching it, I was hoping others would be as touched by it too. It was so heartening to watch. It's nice when people show you that just because everybody else thinks you'll fail, that doesn't mean that they're right. ILU Susan Boyle. ♥

I have this bizarre urge to send her a fan-letter now. And possibly to ask her to marry me. haha
