Until I was 31 I had only visited 8 states, after that I had a more reliable vehicle and time to do more road trips.

The sad thing about driving to NOLA is that to do it fast, it's all highway -- none of it was interesting. We saw the same hotels and restaurants for 1,000 miles. If you turn the drive into a vacation as well, then I think it would be a lot more fun.
