Of dark days and fun things

School's finally over (just one lecture to go) and my Christmas break is about to begin. I have two learning diaries to write, which are going to be a pain, but otherwise I can take it easy for the next three weeks. This fall's classes have been pretty disappointing since I feel like I haven't really learned much of anything in most of them. All ( Read more... )

Yes, Susan Boyle. I heard about that ages ago, haha. But I always want to rewatch it, simply to see the incredulous expressions on the faces of the judges and the audiences. You've got the full clip here, too, which is good.

AND OMG MERLIN ROCKS. I have the first season downloaded onto my computer.

Oh, look at Merlin's giddy and happy little face!!! *squee* I'm sorry, Colin Morgan always reduces me into a state of absolute brain-melting aaaaawwwwww that only kittens normally cause. :D

And that Susan Boyle clip will probably never get old. I love that "HA! In your face, asshats!" moment when she begins to sing and everyone's jaws drop. Served those douchebags right for thinking good looks equals talent.

Waaargh, I'm dying to get that Merlin S1 box set! Too bad you can't buy it anywhere in Finland. Or even CDON.

I love that Susan Boyle clip, too. It always makes me smile and my spine tingle. I wonder what it feels like to stand there and KNOW that that moment is going to change your life.

Don't worry about getting out of practice. Actually, I've noticed it's good to have some time away from translating, it gives a wider perspective and more courage to play with the text.

Anyway, I'll see you tomorrow! :)

I know taking a break every once in a while is good, but I've only made one English to Finnish translation in the last year and a half (luckily I've at least had more practice with Finnish to English) and I only have one poem translation coming up in spring. I would actually like to translate more. I'm thinking of choosing a random fic and translating it for fun (wouldn't publish it anywhere of course).
