Applebuck Season 2011 - 2

So, nanowrimo has been eating my life.  In hindsight, I should have probably selected a different time to do the reviews.  However, I can keep the reviews coming, but not as frequently.  Also, maybe not seven reviews, but a smattering of them spread over the month.  So, without further ado, may the season continue ( Read more... )

Next year, I'll make a note to try one of these for myself.

It's just a pity that these apples' seasons are so short -- I don't think the Nittany stayed around for more than a month!

That being said, the most recent jug of cider I bought is a bit spicier than the last. Maybe there's a high percentage of Nittany in there. :9

you know, it occurred to me recently that you could have used your applejack to boil pork. Pork roast, simmered slowly in apple juice (or jack) for several hours until it's super tender. Then you let it cool, then rip it appart with your hands. Eat like that or add bbq sauce and make sammiches. Your choice, but hey! now you have pulled pork! If your current jug ferments, now you have an idea.

I never actually thought of doing it with apple juice myself. That was a friend's recipe. I think i will try it in the near future with some of the store bought stuff. The Gopher glen stuff goes in my mouth.

But I don't eat pork.

Hmm. I wonder if I could do it with lamb? :D ?
