Dispatch From the Bowels of Con Prep

Jun 17, 2010 05:59

Today I organized. Tons of it, and the boringest of boring it was. I know it'll pay off at the convention, where those extra seconds of hunting around for the right print really start to count.

THE DIRTY DETAILS )

BoE up in Norcal takes like ten minutes if you're doing a walk-in, so I've never bothered with mailing it in before conventions.

I would hella commission you~ What kind of timeframe do you think turnarounds would be in? My girlfriend's birthday is, like, end of July, but I've got another friend with a birthday coming up in September, and I've been thinking of paying people to make arts for them both. xD; (But in the $40-50 range, I can't afford both right now. Damnit, job market, open up and let me in!)

I'm so pissed that I can't make Expo. D: D: Have fun when you're there, damnit! I'm gonna kick Loki if I don't hear table stories from visiting you.

Timeframe is intended to be within a week of hitting your spot in the queue, but I dunno yet what the othe jobs will be like, so I can't say for sure how long that would be. I can always refund if we get too close to the date and I'm still swamped, though! That way you can still reinvest in elsegifts.

Also: I promise to have awesome stories after the con on your behalf.

OOH! Me! Pick me, pick me! I'm definitely willing to pay more for good quality, especially yours. Not sure what email to contact you at though. I'd do a quick run down of what I'd like here, but I have more than one in mind, and it would take up a lot of space.

Sweet! I'm the same username as my LJ, @tmail.com. (Dissect that, spambots!) One good thing about having done the cheapo commissions is that now a year's gone by and I'm more comfortable with the tablet, thus more confident and competent about taking more complicated commissions.

Alliteration gone mad!

Would it be possible for me to commission a two-character picture? (I understand that this will result in an increase in price.)

Sure, that'd be fine!

I am totes hitting you up for a cheaper commish once the crunch time is un-crunched. Sadly I don't have enough right now for $40-$50 stuff (FREAKING TRAFFIC CAMERAS) but I do have a picture in mind, as well as posters I'd like. Maybe an early birthday present from me to myself. :)

How comfortable are you taking a photo of a person (or in this case two) and drawing said people in your style? If that's too crazy for right now I'll just bother you for posters. Also congrats on organization! :D

I would be up for that! I've been experimenting with redrawing from photos and it's actually pretty fun.

Also: I hear you on the traffic cameras. I hardly ever sneak through a red arrow but it's enough to make a bloke want to buy some reflective sealant for his license plate. Even though that's probably hellacious illegal, and all.

SWEEET. I'll contact you with references and stuff as soon as your blog indicates that you've wriggled through Crunchytown.
