Grr! This is the second troll today (I've been up for about an hour and now definitely ready to go back to bed) that I've seen who's been a total asshole about historical crap like they're the only person who's ever done some wikipedia research!
I'm having a fun facebook war with someone who claims that there's never been a non-Christian feminist movement. If that were the only thing they were claiming, fine. But they're claiming that this is the "universal opinion of modern historians" (as if you could get modern historians to agree on anything) and that we're being stupid and silly because he's totally been published in peer-reviewed journals with this opinion--in journals I've never heard of, of course.
He saw it on cracked dot com and was in a butt-burning hurry to unload his learnings somewhere, anywhere. And now he's making like being featured is a point in his favor HAHAHA OH BABE I DIDN'T LEAVE THAT FIFTY ON THE NIGHTSTAND FOR YOUR COLLEGE FUND
See, the thing that kills me is that this would be an interesting historical tidbit if it were delivered in the context of, "isn't it funny how symbols change," rather than with all the social grace of a pompous boar hound on roller skates.
