Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt is an amusing anime by Gainax. D City Rock is an episode that pays homage to music videos.

Go watch PSG, it's awesomely amusing as long as you don't take things seriously.

Panty and Stocking is basically a twisted chibi Magical Girl anime on crack. Take the dumbest, most immature slackers you can imagine, give them weapons, and set them loose on an unsuspecting Earth.

The first episode concerns a ghost made of shit, and as my friend Rah (who got me into it) says, it "goes downhill from there."

My solution to this: Watch Moribito, re-read Song of the Lioness eight billion times. Did she NEED a man? No, but dammit she sure as hell WANTED one (and got several. Many times. Including the crown prince.)
