Sorry for the long answer Dx lukadron June 12 2011, 21:03:57 UTC
Amen to this. Magneto's moves were pretty smooth, yes. I truely enjoyed the fact that he could kill with the tiniest amount of metal and that scene with the two Nazis and the barman? Sweet jesus, what a fast flying knife. That was one of the only plusses in my book regarding Erik. His efficiency at times.

I have to agree with every single point you mentioned here, as well. The 60s movements would have offered a good basis for Magneto's arguments and even Charles would have had to agree that there was truth in them. I had not seen any of that, however. Despite all the sexism in the movie itself, was that a hint or just a way to capture the male fanboys' attention??

Of courses the XMen will go now for Vietnam. Any good mutant will want to do that, Logan and Sabertooth are already there~ Afterwards they'll stop the third world War and Erik will die at the hands of Dr Manhatten Professor X, CRYING. Lol. Man, I hated how they shoved in Kennedy in the middle of the movie just to make sure the audience gets that it's THE 60s, historical ( ... )

Oh good, it sounds like I can continue to not give a fuck about Xmen. Awesome.

I guess I'll have to see Thor at some point too. >_>

Just rewatch X1 and X2 and indulge in head canon. That's what I'm going to do, anyways.

WATCH THOR IT IS AWESOME AND OMG JUST... NNGH!

If Loki's tears are any standard to go by, then it's just the tip of the iceberg to what a villainous character is able to cry, see: Erik Lehnsherr. Not even funny.
Loki sheds tears twice, in highly emotional moments that WARRANT it. Also only in the presence of first his father, later his brother. Truely, Loki only makes innocent faces most of the time where you feel the undercurrent of schemes beneath his gaze. With Erik? Not so. He just cries at every given opportunity to show how conflicted he is. Doesn't matter who sees it Dx OR the situation *kicks and screams*

IT'S THE SUMMER OF SLIGHTLY VILLAINOUS CRYING PROTAGONISTS. \o/
SO YOU THINK IT'S BAD OOC CRYING? DDD: PHHHH
(lol, all that Thor stuff is mostly giving me major SLYTHERIN VS GRYFFINDOR flashbacks, oh HP fandom...)

Hmm, haven't seen X-Men: First Class yet (too busy sneaking off to the theater to see Thor some more. I'VE SEEN IT FOUR TIMES NOW AND I DON'T CARE LA LA LA I have no life).

Is it even worth seeing? All my friends are leaving (ANGST) and going to the theater to see a blase` movie by myself is lame. At least if you're with somebody you can mock it together or something.

I saw it four times, too. It was just that good. And lol, your icon. Everyone I went to the theatre with agreed on that, Hiddles would make an awesome new Data.

Maybe you will like it. I don't want to convince people NOT to see it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just know that I was heavily disappointed by the plot, the characters and the dialogue. The special effects were quite nice, but that's to be expected. There are good scenes, if very few, or rather observations, but for me, it was not enough to make this movie worthwhile. I was cringing in my seat, Nadia was having a fit and Peter was silently laughing into his hands in disbelief. Or maybe because of our snarky comments, who knows!
So if you want to see it, do. At least it will give you fodder for fanfics and rants for the next, oh, two or three weeks, lol. I am developing a whole headcanon just to make the aweful experience of XM:FC go away, rofl.

...mmm maybe I will have to cross it off my list but my friends keep saying "go see it! so much slash!"...

I'd pay to see Thor again! Just need the time...

The slash is unwarranted. Charles and Erik just hit it off and are BFF for no apparent reason right after they meet. They don't know each other, Charles just assumes he does, thinks he's seen all the warped corners of Erik's mind and psyche when it's clear that he has no clue who this person truely is. Why Erik even puts off with his arrogance, I have no idea. I surely wouldn't want to keep around a posh Oxford boy that keeps butting in on my suvivor's guilt and memories of me sitting in front of the Menorah with my mother. Uh.

The movie feels like it all happens in the time frame of a week or two. Not enough to develop a strong, intimate relationship but the gayness is there all the same, without a real basis to build upon. Some people like it, maybe because Erik cries a lot.
Charles cries to.
Everyone cries. It's a big fucking weepingfest of angst. Except that it isn't real angst, just the script writers trying to convey conflicting emotions and situations.

God.
