Step: Author's Note
chi-eng translated, 1004 words, luhan centric, all members involved, various pairings
"With each step, 15 years of your lives will deplete"

Clown buys a bottle of champagne and allows everyone else to walk free, locking himself in alone. Facing solely himself isn't a sort of freedom, afterall.
He removes his mask.

Onlookers situated on the opposite of the cliff, do you fainly see yourself in that room? The you who sometimes views at those surrounding you through a telescope, the you who taps on doors too often, but never once succeeds at opening the door in your heart?

This 80,000 words story concludes on a lingering note, and here at the ending, Luhan uses his considerably faint strength to bravely place a full stop to this story.

There are many things we aren't aware of.

However, we do know a few things, things such as:

The third clown from the back only leaves us the backview of the truck driver. Putting on a stranger's face, he returns and knocks over Yun on the taxi, and also his successor, Sung. The blurry events in this rainy night will make its marks in history forever, and the taxi with it's ever changing passengers will nevertheless drive towards it's fate, again and again.

The Second clown, the person who led them to the wooden hut, Sung, returned two cellphones and at the same time opened the first chapter of our story. He is yet another person who takes steps, wearing a mask, saving Yun but eventually only saying goodbye to him back faced.

The last clown, Luhan, having experienced 3 times of hysterical and calm steps eventually makes the decision of using his life as a sacrifice for insurance on Kris, for all the immensely grave moves impossible to erase. Just like Sung seated in the taxi, it was all a fraud. Or rather, when a person sacrifices himself, success often isn't as challenging as it seems.

Tao said, "no one is at fault." If you understand Kris and Luhan's characters in the story, you might also notice Sung's sacrifices; the real friendship under the shiny and dazzling lights of the ever popular Happy Time as a boss, and even the helplessness of the taxi driver in the pouring rain which only left us his back.

Or perhaps, in the instant when Luhan entered the co-driver's seat or the moment he allowed the bunch of keys to fall, you can picture the message he intended to pass with his actions - in this world - love isn't the only thing that results in rash acts from people.

And for someone who truly loves you, he or she wouldn't stop loving you just because you have sacrificed your love.

Everyone may have had moments in their life when they pleaded for something, this terrifying cycle isn't any evil's mischief, after all. Rather, it is a game which solely exists from the pleas. Life's encounters are full of probabilities, every crossroad is a choice made for a lifetime. You yourself who thinks you're on the wrong track may not be aware that something important awaits on the next intersection. Blind spots and being unable to view the world from the God's perspective are fates, unavoidable. What we see will forever be the complexed, projected shadows of a polyhedron against the walls. You and I who are unable to step will never know of the tiny details hidden in the corners of history, and neither will we witness the truck stationed at those crossroads. As you scale higher and higher, you will look back at the obstacles and realize that perhaps every step you take is what has carved you into you right now.

People around you may be more intelligent than you imagine, at times, yet there is only one reason they fake foolishness, it's because they love you. If you ever see your parents back down in an argument with you, if you ever only receive a bag of pistachios on your birthday from a friend you spend your everyday with, if your lover never actually says the word "love" to you......

Don't blame them, perhaps, just perhaps, at the most defining moment, they might actually sacrifice themselves.

However, the rather unfortunate Yixing in this story may perhaps never get the chance to experience this type of love. Therefore, we have novels, we have movies, the ultimate yearning of a perfect life, we're left willing to shed tears for these fictional characters, yet wiping them off in reality.

This comedy-story does not have a happy ending but neither does it end badly, just like the majority of us in reality, ending in unexpected places. And if you are still hammering nails under the scrutiny of the telescope, please don't ever stop, a person who has nails and who continues to work hard with the nailing will be happy, only a culprit who believes in the effectiveness of will experience the truly cruel part. Watching from afar, majority of people on earth nail these nails ineffectively, yet, we all still live happily, am I right?

The last of the last:
From the end of August to the beginning of December, in these rather short months, I have gained some extremely unforgettable memories, and once again, I bow in gratitude for everyone's support. This is my second story, and also my last, from today onwards, I will continue to watch them from afar and I hope they make it big and popular and eventually find the happiness and freedom belonging to them.
I'll be exiting from the door on the left, come on, smile a little.
