I know it's dangerous, which is why I took her under my care. You were behaving abnormally, and I didn't know anyone else to send her to, it was only proper that I take her in.

She has a home here if she chooses it, but if she wishes to move in with you and whomever you may be living with, I have no objections there either.

He coughs, looking immensely frustrated with the entire situation and with having to explain himself to Clive regarding the situation, too.]

Okay, Luke. I need you to calm down first of all. A lot has happened, and I'm going to explain it to you, but there is absolutely no way I can even handle explaining it if you're riled up and upset. On top of that, you're only going to make your illness worse at this rate, your body is already fighting one demon. You getting anxious isn't going to help it repair itself.

Now, I'll give you however long you need, and then I'll begin.

[There's a long pause as Luke attempts to calm down and shifts around in place. There are a few mumbled sounds of pain, and some coughing, and maybe something that sounds like retching, but after ten minutes, he's back to attending to the communicator again.]

What...happened?

[He'll do just about anything to not admit that he's scared, especially not to Clive. But Clive seems to know what's going on, and even if he isn't sure he trusts the guy, he will do anything to get the information he knows he's missing.]

[There is a very, very long pause, and then definite sounds of retching. Clive essentially confirmed what Luke had already figured out: he had died. A little part of him had wanted to not believe that it had happened the way he remembered. Clive didn't need to mention it at all.]

[Okay, so he knew that a shadow did it, but that counted, because he saw the person--thing--that killed him and that was the only person that could logically want to pretend to be him. Right?]

[There's a sharp intake of breath on the other side of the communicator, and he coughs, shuddering. He could remember, but preferred to not relay any details. Knowing it had happened for sure was enough.]
