I'm lost...

Nov 02, 2010 00:01

I feel like I'm lost. Well, I suppose I should say that I know I'm lost, I just don't know how that happened. The Professor and I were on a train, and I must have nodded off--but now he's gone.

And I'm here. Alone.

It's awfully dark for the middle of the day...and I think that I heard something from that little s-side-street. I don't see ( Read more... )

Oh, hello Miss! I am okay, thank you for asking. May I ask your name? I'm Luke.

Luke...? Oh! Do you know the Professor?

My name's Pearl Fey. It's nice to meet you!

Know the Professor? I'm his apprentice!

It's nice to meet you, Pearl. How long have you been here?

A pren-tiss? What's that?

Um... I got here in March, even though it was February when I left...

An apprentice is like a student who gets one-on-one attention, where the teacher is like a mentor.

I hope you don't find it too horrible to be here. The way time works here is very strange, but the Professor told me not to worry about it.

Would you be offended if I asked how old you are, Pearl?

[ooc: Luke is trying very hard to be a gentleman..but he is 13...he isn't quite the king of tact just yet.]

Oh, I see.

There's lots of people I know here, so it's okay. I'd still like to go home though...

No, of course not! I'm ten.

Who else do you know here, Pearl?

Some ladies don't like being asked how old they are, and the Professor told me you shouldn't ask. But I suppose, if I ask if it's okay to ask before asking, then it must be okay to ask!

Um, there's Mr. Nick, Mr. Edgeworth, Miss von Karma, Miss Ema, and there's a lot of people that Mr. Nick knows too. Is there anyone else you know other than the professor?

That makes sense! I don't know why anyone wouldn't like to be asked how old they are though...

Well, I've met Mr. Edgeworth and Mr. Phoenix, but they seem to remember me from before. I've met someone named Mr. Oxen-stierna, Mr. Arlens, Kero, and Miss Afu-ganistan. They've all be very nice, but I don't really know anyone other than the Professor.

As for asking someone their age...I don't really understand either. It's just how old you are. But the Professor says it's not becoming of a gentleman to ask a lady her age, and he's just about always right.

Yeah!

Though I don't think you'd be a gentleman, Pearl. I think you'd be...well, there's no word I can think of for a lady...you'd be the lady equivalent of a gentleman!

Huh? Oh! I didn't mean I was going to be a gentleman! Only boys can do that, right?

I'm going to be a great spirit medium like Mystic Maya!

Only boys, but I'm sure there has to be a word for girls too. Otherwise it wouldn't be very nice.

I didn't know spirit mediums were real...what can you do as a spirit medium?

[ooc: Luke =/= tact. I actually couldn't think of the feminine equivalent for the word 'gentleman', either.]
