In fairness, he collaborates with James Newton Howard on these. I imagine it going something like this:

*thump thump THUMP thump*
"For fuck's sake, Hans, would you shut your samples up?! I'm trying to write music here!"

Haha, indeed. Apparently Zimmer is really pumped because they didn't introduce the main "Batman" motif until the end of "Batman Begins" and now they get a chance to develop it. How dare composers stretch their work out over numerous projects? It's un-patriotic.

That's... bullshit? I almost did my final paper for film music on Begins, and while I'll admit I don't remember the score that vividly, I'm fairly confident that the little eight-note Batman idea shows up throughout the film. I know we hear it during the race to get Rachel the antidote, and I'm pretty sure it shows up elsewhere.
