Luke and Ellie: Their Room: Morning

May 05, 2005 06:12

A sharp intake of breath shocked him awake, he'd been having that nightmare again, the one where the Guardian came back and took away everyone he cared about, every Mall Rat, everything, and left Luke to burn down in the Mall while he did unspeakable things to the Mall Rats. It wasn't one he had often, but it was one he had, that's all that ( Read more... )

It had been a long time for Ellie, between checking up on Alice every few hours and trying to write Amulet, she really didn’t get much sleep. The paper went fairly well. Of course it took a little work seeing as she hadn’t written one in so long and there was just so much she wanted to let everyone know. After she had finished the issue, she snuck out of the room to give it to the Militia that Sal had delegated to distribute it for her. It was nice to not have to run all around in the morning. It gave her a chance to sneak into bed with Luke. Something, she had wanted to do for so long. After coming back from handing over the paper, she slipped back into the room, hoping not to wake Luke. I remember Alice having nightmares too, so it’s nothing.” She was watching his face and the forced smile made her frown slightly. Maybe it had been a really bad dream. It seemed to be affecting him so much. But he was changing the subject as quickly as it had come up, trying to distract her with thoughts of herself. “ A couple hours ago. I admit that when you fell asleep on me, I let myself rest for a bit longer than I should have, but did get up and write and it went really well. The militia guys are distributing it for me ( ... )

"The militia, that's right, Sal said something about that last night in the hospital, that's great, Ellie, for you to have worked so hard and distribute it already. I hope you kept some for the Mall, and printed out the larger version for the wall? I'll put that up later," Luke had always loved helping Ellie distribute the Amulet, his ideas for it reaching above and beyond what she'd ever imagined for it with paid columnists and real production, more than one sheet. Maybe now that he was back he could really help her, now that he didn't have other obligations like running a city wide city leader election, or creating a monetary system ( ... )
