We're in similar financial circumstances, but I know you knew that.
I know the US is fast going to hell in a handbasket, and it scares me too, but I also have to say a lot of what you've been hating in the last years I've known you is where you've been living. I almost ended up in Wales (yeah, I know) in the 80s and would be a UK citizen by now and until I moved to the Upper Valley up here in northern VT/NH, I wanted desperately to go back. I wasn't living in a hellhole, it just never felt right and I never fit in. And I sure as hell didn't exactly have neighbors who cared or even knew my name, not even after 26 years in th same place. Up here is completely different, and I'm happy for the first time in ages. People actually take care of each other--ikr? Like who does that in the US anymore? Anyway, hope you can at least visit before you take off. Dartmouth Coach and Grayhound both come to White River Junction, VT, which is close to me, and we pick people up there.
