[His eyes are fixed firmly on Luke's hat.]

[He can't tell that you are staring at his hat, so Luke just tilts his head.]

We're not even on Earth anymore.

...Oh, dear. It seems I've fumbled on that Apparition spell.

[Oh, that voice sounds familiar!] Luke, my boy? Is that you?

[luke_triton]

[Hi, Professor. This is Luke. And he is about to do something that is very, very un-gentleman-like. After staring for a moment, he is going to run over to Layton and hug him, tight.]

You're back!

[He sounds a lot less excited and a lot more relieved by this prospect.]

[professorgent]

[Normally, Layton might have gently chided Luke for his ungentlemanly behavior, but sometimes there are times when it's okay have less than a stiff upper lip. This was one of those times, especially when Layton heard how relieved Luke was to see him and when he saw the condition the city was in.]

It seems so. [He returns Luke's hug with a pat on the apprentice's blue-hatted head. Layton isn't sure whether to tell Luke that he doesn't remember Discedo at all, but decides to leave that for later discussion.] Has everything been well for you here, Luke? I apologize if my absence worried you and the others very much.

[Luke peers up at Layton, releasing his grip, smiling wide.]

I wasn't worried...people go home a lot and home is much safer than here!

[There's something unsaid there: he wasn't worried. He was sad.]

It's a city. The one that we're in, right now, actually..

I think that I understand, but... I've never heard of this city before, and it's so bright here. Are there even places this bright in Yuusari?

Um, I'm not sure where that is...I've never here of it either.

But it's always this bright here!

That's a good way to look at it!

There are some things here that I wouldn't call charming--it's very dangerous--but I never thought of looking about it thinking that there are people here and buildings and trees. It's a better way to think of it!
