Wow, maybe it's because it's all still new and I've barely begun, but sitting down at work tonight and reading articles about Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his buildings and furniture is just super fun and enrapturing

I love this stuff. How did you come up with this as your thesis? It's great.

At my house we have a very fine Charles Rennie Mackintosh/Glasgow School of Art coffee mug to which we are all very attached, though we all want to know more about the man himself.

He seems pretty ok from what I've read about: no extramarital affairs, no spousal abuse, no shitty family history. All the muck I can rake up is about a period of heavier drinking after his style fell out of favor with less than hip Glaswegian tastemakers after 1914. Other than that, he seemed to be pretty into his own code of aesthetics, an avid watercolorist and one of the earliest tenents of modernism, through the lens of a purely historical Scottish style.
