A glance at the clock told Sharon Raydor that it was 7:55pm. Five minutes until showtime. Sharon thanked the whatever high atop the thing that Will hadn’t arrived early. At 8:03pm, her doorbell rang. She casted one last glance at the mirror and opened the door to reveal a handsome looking Will Pope in a tux with a grin on his face.
Will was captivated by how beautiful Sharon looked. She wore a backless long dress of a light green color, which matched her eyes perfectly, with a split up to her thigh. Sharon cleared her throat; he realized he had been staring a tad too long. He noticed a faint blush upon her cheeks.
This woman was too cute.
“Do you approve of what you see, Chief?”
“So much so that I’m considering locking you in a tower and keeping you all to myself,” Will replied, followed by a kiss.
“Are you trying to sabotage my makeup so we won’t go out and you won’t have to share me with a crowd?” Sharon teased as she absentmindedly straightened his tie.
“Never crossed my mind. Besides, you look too damn good to waste on just me.” Will offered his arm to her. She blushed as she locked the door and then grasped his arm as they walked to his car.
“You don’t look half bad yourself.” She winked at him as she got in the passenger’s seat.
She was the level of adorable that only meant trouble.
He was so doomed.

The restaurant was one of the most elegant places she had ever seen. Sharon tried to hide her smirk; he was trying to woo her. He pulled out her chair for her, grinning like an idiot. He knew he was the envy of every man in the place.
“What did you pull to get us in here?” Sharon asked with a teasing smile.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Will put on an innocent look and ordered a bottle of champagne.
“Are we celebrating something?”
“No, I just have it on good authority that you like champagne.”
“Who told you that?”
“That’s confidential, I’m afraid.” Will winked, but then his face fell when he saw Sharon sigh. “What is it? We could have wine instead if you’d like.”
“No, no. Champagne will great. I just wasn’t expecting to see her .”
Will turned to see Brenda Leigh Johnson and her husband, Fritz, being seated a few tables away. He closed his eyes and inwardly groaned at his rotten luck. He reopened his eyes when he felt her place her hand in his. She was giving him a small smile, but her eyes were shinning like it seemed only hers could.
“We could leave and find another crowd to dazzle with our amazing good looks,” Will offered, and his heart soared when Sharon started laughing. Sure he had heard her giggle a few times, but to hear her laugh was an exciting rush.
“We could, but that would mean I would be letting Deputy Chief Johnson dictate my life. No, we’re not going anywhere.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, definitely. This is just one time I won’t go first,” Sharon shrugged as the champagne arrived.
“Cute.” Will nodded to the waiter in thanks. The waiter nodded in return and made his exit.
“Is that how you would describe me? Cute?” Sharon asked as she took a sip.
“Among other things, yes.” Will looked at her closely. “Why do I sense a trap?”
“Maybe you’re paranoid.” Sharon smirked.
“Maybe you’re mischievous ,” Will countered.
“Oh, I’m cute and mischievous? What else?” Sharon was beginning to enjoy this little game of hers, and it didn’t hurt that it helped keep her mind of off who was sitting a few tables away.
“You are very sexy, can be infuriating, unreadable at times, and did I mention sexy as hell?”
Sharon tried to hide her blush by taking another sip. Will couldn’t keep the grin from his face. That is until he saw Brenda Leigh Johnson walking towards their table.
