Shame on you! anonymous June 18 2008, 21:20:03 UTC
Drill here now. Tell Opec to take a hike and when they see we are serious they will drop prices just like the 80's. We should have been drilling more here all along. So when they do drop their prices we must drop them regardless!

We have the means and we have the damn oil(N.D., Colorado, Florida, ALaska, etc etc). Tell congress and Bush to stop playing politics and start making a real national energy policy.

And Blitzer I love the fact that you just kept to the marketing message that Big Oil is evil. Please. Why don't you look at the facts and stop with the wrong messaging. Most of your viewers don't have the brains to make their own opinion or research the facts on this thing called the internet. Kind of like some of the folks on this blog, who just spout out BS. Shame on you!

I don't think we should drill off shore of Florida. We've been doing it in Texas and other states bordering the Gulf and that hasn't seemed to do us much good so far. The environmental risks are not one that I believe we are ready to take, at least so close to the Keys. The coral reefs down there are precious. If you used the internet to do research as to what we get from those reefs, perhaps you would worry less about the price of gas in trade for this irreplaceable ecosystem.

We don't know if we have the oil either. It's going to take us three years to find out if we even have enough to make a significant difference.

What is spouted on this blog is not BS. It's opinions of people and information that they may have heard. It's ridiculous of you to not look into it at the very least, but to just stick with your opinion because you believe yourself right. Just have an open mind and check into both sides before you come here.

Anyone really believe this turkey, O'Reilly? He's protecting his own rear end(and golden parachute) and relying on ignorance from the American public not to question him.
Peak Oil is GONE and it's not going to get any better nor any cheaper.
History Channel ran an interesting two hour special called "Crude" that directly contradicts O'Reilly about the availability of oil in the future. I highly recommend it, and I recommend people use their critical thinking skills and avoid believing biased sources such as O'Reilly.

We need to look ahead to the future for long term, non-fossil fuel energy sources and more oil drilling is not it.

We need to start drilling in our own back hills. Enough of the "back-door politics" in Washington! If I want to sink a shaft and strike brown, then why should the EPA intervene? Why shouldn't I be allowed to sink pipe into virgin soil if he's got what I need to fuel my economy?

16 billion cash paid for property plant and equipment anonymous June 18 2008, 22:55:14 UTC
Instead of passing judgement on this guy why not download the financial statements for the fiscal year 2007 from the chevron.com go up top to investor section and get the annual report. Oh wait America is too busy watching TV or crying about gas prices to have any clue about how the capital markets work. If you look at the financial statement there is 16 bill of cash outflow in the cash flow statement. THat 16 bill is recorded as a decrease in cash and an increase to property plant and equipment and has no effect on net income. Therefore Chevron made 18.688 bill in net income they paid cash of 16 bill for new capital assets ( ... )
