Well the Olympics served in the ancient world as a means for healthy competition against your enemies... It is more the history of the Olypmpics that I enjoy rather than the the new hype it receives now... Sport & all forms of physical activity & the pomp & spleandour that surrounded it in ancient Rome served to bring a constantly warring nation back to normality after intense periods of civil unrest & social upheaval. The qaestors & aediles got to throw their weight around & impress the plebs so they would get their vote, & the plebs liked to see people get murdered & drink a lot, naturally. It was also a massive celebration of & sacrifice to their gods. But you get the point, the olypics & games in general were their public holidays, which we Australians are such massive fans of ( ... )

you're thinking of the stripped video, which uses stock footage from the 1936 games held in NAZI GERMANY!. good times

but yes, if the games were more like how they used to be, then maybe i'd be more interested
