A/N: Song fic; because I really like Taylor. Hahaha.

Short intro here, and as usual I disclaim all characters used and blah blah blah wrote this while in the plane on the way to Tokyo. I forgot to post it in though.

Lyrics are italicized.

Oh yay, used an English song. Again. I might use a Japanese one soon. I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU.

--

Elevator buttons and morning air
Strangers’ silence makes me wanna take the stairs
If you were here we’d laugh about their vacant stares
But right now my time is theirs.

Mirai’s POV

Today on the way to work, I had that feeling of awkward atmosphere once again. The elevator ride to Ken-on’s top floor was so uneasy having all of the unfamiliar faces around me. These people must be the new crew.

Suddenly, I remembered Ryosuke. He and I would have laughed at all their expressions. It’s a weird habit of his that whenever we happen to run into people who recognize the two of us when we’re together, he makes fun of their faces, trying to imitate them and making it even more silly.

It didn’t take long for me to catch myself smiling at the memory. I kept my head down, trying to avoid anyone else’s attention.

I don’t even care if they think I’m going mad. I just had to giggle.

--

Seems like there’s always someone who disapproves
They judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury’s out, but my choice is you

Ryosuke’s POV

I had another one of those drastic lectures from old man Johnny today. He’s been bugging me all month, convincing me into keeping my mouth shut about me and Mirai’s relationship to the press. Being the chatterbox that I am, he must think that I can just spill it all out in a second.

Little did he know, it was actually part of my plan to intentionally announce it to the public. If and only if anyone asks about it.

When the press conference started, the rest of the JUMP members already knew about my scheme. No, they weren’t all very supportive, but I knew Yuto thought that it was a good idea. Yabu on the other hand thought so otherwise. Either way, I knew all of them would respect it.

I sat down, blinking furiously at the flashes from the cameras. Next to these were the piercing sounds of reporters talking like hooligans, asking questions like we were all about to die the next day.

Finally, it was time for us to talk. Pin-drop silence.

The first to give a say was (as usual.) Yabu. He talked about our upcoming projects as well as answered about a thousand questions and cleared probably a hundred ridiculous rumors.

It all didn’t matter to me until one question from a random reporter came up.

“Is it true that one of your members is dating actress Shida Mirai?” the woman said.

Yabu turned to me, who was sitting right next to him. His eyes were telling me to do what I wanted and to do what I should.

I swallowed hard.

“Minna-san, it’s been quite a while, don’t you think? This rumor.” I started, “I know it’s been a really stressful and troublesome thing to do, and I know that she’s a really busy person. Despite the fact that she knew she was going to receive a million death threats from fangirls, she still decided to follow her heart.”

Everyone’s eyes widened, I knew I made them wonder.

But I decided to shoo away their confusion.

“Even if I knew I was going to be in hot water, I still managed to survive the consequences.” I breathed in a mouthful of breath,

“Without any regrets, I am dating Shida Mirai.”

The next thing I knew was, I couldn’t hear myself think anymore.

So don’t you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water’s rough
But this love it ours

Mirai’s POV

He hasn’t spoken since he came in.

While I was at taping today, both our families saw what he announced to the press on TV. I didn’t know it would be live, so I couldn’t make it. Whatever it is that happened, I’m sure it wasn’t pretty.

We’re in my room, speechless. He sat on the floor, face buried into his arms. I stayed silent, sitting uneasily on my bed.

A huge lump in my throat started to form as I fought the urge to cry. The harder I try, the bigger it gets. It didn’t take long for me to eventually break down. The tears just had to come out. I still don’t know what happened, but my heart just had its very own instinct. It was like it knew what Ryosuke was trying to say.

His eyes met me, looking like he just got defeated in a very important game. Despite the frustration he felt, he still wore that smile. My tears continued to fall at the sight.

He took a deep breath.

“They obviously disapprove of it.” He finally managed to let out, “But honestly, I don’t give a damn about what they think.”

And at that, it all became clear to me.

Ryosuke stood up and sat on my bed. He reached for my hand as I continued to sob.

“Stop crying. I’m here to protect you. Don’t you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine, but they can’t take what’s ours.”

--

You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip-gloss smiles
But I don’t care, ‘cause right now you’re mine

Ryosuke’s POV

Today at work Mirai came along with me to the jimusho for the peace-offering I planned to give to Johnny. It wasn’t the best idea since other artists aren’t really allowed to enter the place (unless they’re Johnnys of course.) especially if that certain artist is currently dating one of the industry’s *ahem* best-selling celebrities *ahem*.

“Ryosuke, I really think this isn’t such a good idea.” my Juliette says.

She is so naïve; I can’t help but bite my lower lip at her cuteness.

Making a face, she elbowed me on the arm in annoyance.

“I’m serious!”

“Sorry. It’s just that I can’t stand it when you pout like that!”

“You are impossible.”

“That’s why you love me.”

I get elbowed again.

“One more time, and I’m going home.” She threatened, getting on the elevator.

To our surprise, another unusual person was waiting outside of JUMP’s dressing room. I really didn’t expect her to be here.

“Yama-chan!” She gaped, “YASASHIIBURI~!”

“Ah! Mariya-chan!” I say with a smile, “How long has it been?”

“Quite a few years actually! I haven’t seen you since high school.”

“It’s been a while. How’ve you been?”

“Busy and happy, I guess.” She replied, then turned to Mirai, “Shida-chan, I can’t believe it!”

Mirai gave a sweet smile, then bowed at our old classmate.

We then entered the dressing room, greeting all who were in it: Inoo, Chinen, Daiki and Hikaru.

Mirai and Mariya settled themselves on our couches. I sat on the chair next to Mirai.

“Look at you two! I saw that brave act at the press yesterday, Yama-chan. You are such a killer!” The tall girl says, “You would never have done that if it were still me!”

Mirai gave a sarcastic laugh. I just simply smiled at the statement. I knew my girlfriend was feeling a bit of fury deep inside. She isn’t the type to go insane all of a sudden and strangle the other girl. I think.

“So, what brings you here, Mari-chan?” Mirai asked, pinching the end of my sleeve.

“Nothing, nothing. I just wanted to meet Ryosuke again to see how he’s been. I know it’s really sudden and kind of random, but it’s
normal for friends isn’t it?” Mariya answers, giving Mirai a plastic smile.

I don’t know if I like where this is going.

“Uhm. We’re here to apologize to Johnny. Actually Mariya, we’re going to go now. Johnny is waiting, and he’s not the most patient man in the world so..” I stood up, “it was nice seeing you again.”

The two girls then followed suit. Mariya shook my hand and smiled at Mirai once more.

“You are so lucky Mirai-chan. He is so cute!” She says, eyeing Mirai in a very scary manner.

“Thank you.” Mirai tugged me away with a smile, “He’s mine.”

Really. I love this girl.

--

And it’s not theirs to speculate if it’s wrong and
Your hands are tough but they are where mine belong and
I’ll fight their doubt and give you faith
With this song for you

Mirai’s POV

I held onto Ryosuke all the while we were talking to Johnny.

People were right. He really is aging. Other than that, he looked really scary. The glares he gave me as he asked me questions made the hair on my arms and legs stand up.

“Shida-san, you do know that this means that you will be in a whole lot of trouble with Yamada-san’s fans?” he croaked.

I nodded confidently, showing him courage. “I don’t care how many girls camp out of my house just to hunt me down.”

Ryosuke giggled. Johnny looked at him coldly. He then stopped giggling and wore a serious face, brushing of his bangs.

I wanted to laugh.

“I just want both of you to know how much I am against this idea of you two being lovers. It really should have been kept a secret! What were you thinking making it public like that?!” the old voice started to get louder.

This guy should be careful of his blood pressure.

“We just wanted to be normal and-” Ryosuke was interrupted by gray-haired-san.

“And you think this will make you two NORMAL??”

“I was just trying to make things more clear.”

“This is not making anything better! Do you know how many fans you will lose and how many anti-fans she will gain?!”

Jeez. Easy now, grandpa.

My heart raced. I had enough of this.

“Johnny-san,” my breath let out, “whatever it may be, I will do it. Whatever challenge, bring it! Fangirls can be heartbroken, but Ryosuke has a life, he has a heart. I have a heart, and a brain too! With all due respect, we have a life we want to live out on our own. Ryosuke loves his job; he won’t leave it, even for me, he won't! But if the time comes where he leaves me just so he could keep it, that’s when I will never ever forgive myself for not making you change your mind!”

My hands formed fists as they both rested on the table. Hot blood circulated my whole body. I felt myself tear up a bit after what I’ve just spat out. My mind swirled as silence filled the whole room. The atmosphere was blank, focused on all of what I just said. The only thing making a sound was the wall clock.

Ryosuke kept his head down, eyes shut.

Johnny took a few minutes of thinking, until he finally reached his choice of words.

“If it’s you, then I will give my blessings.”

My chest felt like it just broke out of a really heavy rock. Ryosuke smiled his biggest smile, stood up and bowed repeatedly to the old man. I stood up and did the same.

“Yamada-san, you’re lucky it’s this one.” He gave a tiny smile and left the room.

Ryosuke turned to me and embraced me tight. He lifted me up and twirled me around the office. I couldn’t help but cry tears of overwhelming joy.

“I really thought it would be a disaster!” I exclaimed as if breathing fresh air for the very first time.

He didn’t say a thing, kept his smile and held both my hands. He leaned in closer until his forehead touched mine as he intertwined our fingers.

I kept my eyes open, observing the face of the love of my life.

“Ryosuke..” I said as he kept his eyes closed, still leaning, “I love the gap between your teeth, I love the riddles that you speak, and any snag remarks from anyone about you will be ignored, because my heart is yours.”
