Doctor Who nerd rage, with pictures.

There's one little misconception the writers of the EDAs seem to have about Paul McGann: they think he's very tall, in a lanky, long-legged kind of way, too. They are wrong. Crazy geniuses, but prone to a sort of mass delusion of Tall McGann.

Mad Larry's Alien Bodies (featuring the eighth incarnation of the Doctor) contains the line ( Read more... )

Why do people reject the tiny Doctor? This saddens me so much. He is wee and manic and you could tuck him in your pocket and go adventuring with him. And he doesn't need to be tall when he both acts tall and has Fitz around to be his proxy tall. Now I want a book where the Doctor brings Fitz along with him somewhere because he requires some tall loomingness for his latest scheme to work.

Yeah, I know! I think it has something to do with the fact he's supposed to be the Hot One, and supposedly women don't like short guys. Well, he's taller than I am, so it doesn't make any difference to me just how much taller...

And I noticed he's quite short before I got to any of the EDAs where he's described as tall, so they'll describe him as being super-tall and then have him do something really manic and childish and I can't get it to work in my head. I'm used to imagining him as physically fairly nonthreatening and kind of an obvious underdog. I think if I met a tall, solidly-built man who acts like a child who's been knocking back double espressos, I'd be scared...

...which is why I'm not too keen on Four...

Oh, and I just noticed his collar is all screwed up in your icon. Awwwww!

I want to say something about the idea of Fitz as his proxy tall person, but, honestly, any scenario that involved that would probably also give Fitz the impression the universe actively conspires to put him out of his way and only ever make him feel useful for stupid reasons. Although, seriously, becoming remarkably, gawkily tall under rationing is quite the accomplishment.

I'm almost glad that I can't see the pictures. I think I laughed quite enough at the captions. McGann is 5 feet 8.5 inches, and I do not know why I know this but it's one of those facts that's permanently imbedded itself in my brain.

*insert meta about the Fitz/Eight height/power dynamic and the Eight/Sabbath..... thing that was somehow part of this conversation last time we had it*

Oh, that's nothing. The incredibly stupid height and weight of an anime character have been embedded in my brain since I was twelve. I am sure that for the rest of my natural life, I will remember that there's an anime character who is 5'9" and weighs 114 pounds.

The important thing about the pictures is that his arse looks like you could bounce a quarter off it. It would probably make a little pinging noise, too. I always forget what film the Naked McGann picture comes from, but I've heard it's only really any good because he's in it, and possibly even then the only draw is that he is naked and talks.

Lets be honest here-- what more does a movie need than McGann naked and talking? That alone should equal BAFTA.

:DDD I think Paul McGann naked and talking would make pretty much *any* movie good.
