I just heard on the radio that our catholic bishop of Calgary has made the statement "Gay marriage is the worst betrayal to children. Even worse than the priests and young boys sex scandals". I don't have time to research it further at the moment. More to come.

as long as you are a priest and your partener is under 9yrs.

Something that doesn't affect children at all (unless you let gay couples not only marry, but adopt) is a far, far worse betrayal than their only connection to God sexually molesting them.

It's horrible to think that those poor boys who've been violated by people they have ultimate trust in are being trivialized in a such a flippant statement. When I heard this this morning it was a equivilant to a bucket of cold water being tossed on me. How dare he say such a thing?

How is it that he could think gay people getting married is more harmful?

He has also put his position on the line in that statement by saying same-sex marriage is worse than the sexual abuse of children. People who are against same-sex marriage but know how bad sexual abuse is could rethink how they feel about same-sex marriage.

OR he could cause people to believe that sexual abuse isn't as bad as something that is already made legal so why not do it?

Grrr....now I'm babbling.

no kidding, you probably haven't heard about it but a family was killed yesterday by driving into the path of an oncoming ambulance here in Calgary

so with waking up this morning to the idiot ramblings of a stuid bishop then opening the paper to the montreal school thing and family killed by ambulance, I'm just having a great day :(
